There have been some new venues popping up in St. Louis that are being utilized for EDM events!

Red Flag

Red Flag is a concert hall with a capacity of 1000 people located at 3040 Locust Street. I would say this venue is within walking distance from Saint Louis University and is across the street from Pappy’s Smokehouse. I was so excited when B&W announced they are having Reaper and DRINKURWATER at this venue! There is also a local DJ show getting put on here by Vybe Syndicate, a combined production company of six St. Louis production companies!

This venue has a lot of potential for the EDM scene. B&W did throw two shows here back in 2023, and I went to a “Festival-inspired EDM Rave” by United We Dance, back at the start of 2024 too. I can report that the venue felt spacious and there was a small upstairs area that made small rooms cut out of cargo containers. I remember the sound system being pretty good too and a big screen behind the DJ for visuals. My biggest complaint from the United We Dance show was there was a blue strobe light flashing every single drop. It felt like I was rapidly opening and closing my eyes. However, it’s good to know that it is there, and I’m sure B&W and Vybe Syndicate will provide a great light show and probably bring lasers.

This venue is more out west in St. Charles and it’s a movie theater! Shows being thrown here are by Frission 4D productions. I went to their first show and stepping into the venue is a lobby with a concession stand with full size candy and drinks. Then to the right there is a long hallway lit with blacklight that has video game murals on the wall, and that leads to a big room. This room has a huge movie theater screen with a raised stage. Even though it is a movie theater this room does not have movie theater seats. Instead it has a rumbling 4D haptic floor in the far corner. The haptic floor is a platform where you stand on top of bass speakers or something, and the floor rumbles. You can feel the bass with the music. It is such a cool experience, you can feel the bass in your head.

Other cool projects this venue and Frission 4D have going on is an all age rave for people under 21 and a few shows planned for March already! A few shows that have not been announced yet, but are up on their website are the DJ Spin Master Competition and the Hologram Experience. Lots to look forward to!

World Wide Technology Raceway- New Music Festival Venue!

Brand new EDM music festival announced at World Wide Technology Raceway! This is in Illinois just across the bridge from St. Louis and about 10 minutes away from downtown. It’ll be on Saturday, May 31st and it will be 18+. The full name will be called Midwest Dreams Music Festival and it’s being run by More Beats Less Talk. This company is helping with the STL Marti Gras and bringing John Summit to the PLAYR1 Tent! They also did Mardi Gras in 2024 and brought Meduza and James Hype.

Unfortunately at the time of me writing this, not much specific info is known to the public about Midwest Dreams. However, it’s shaping up to be really good. Their website mentions “world-renowned DJ’s, immersive light shows, interactive art installations, and carnival rides. In terms of the lineup, they did mention in the public post of the flyer that they were “definitely bringing dubstep”!

When I first heard there was going to be a music festival at World Wide Raceway I immediately thought of EDC Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Raceway has a 1.5 mile long oval and World Wide has a 1.25 mile long oval, so it is looking to be a big event. I’m sure there will be more information released closer to time and their website can be found here: https://midwestdreamsmf.com/
